Thanks again to each and every one of the Women’s Division members for their hard work, ticket sales, and overall support of the Great Taste of Grapevine!

What a great night with over 700 in attendance!

During the April membership luncheon the Women’s Division honored four Grapevine gentlemen who have consistently supported Women’s Division projects and programs by being very hands-on with various resources.  They have been our heroes by championing the cause for fundraising efforts, providing pick-up trucks and labor, storage space for projects, meeting space, and dancing at Senior Fest, just to name a few.    Those honored included David Buhr and Tracy Huneycutt (representing the Grapevine Ambucs), Ron Stacy, and Marcus Wayland.  Please thank these great guys again when you see them around town.

On April 30th, the Women’s Division “Bling Team,” complete with jewels and tiara’s, walked the track in support of a Grapevine’s 2nd annual Relay for Life.  Through your support of our walkers and the “blinky ring” sales we raised over $2K for the cause!  Congrats to Kathee Livengood who coordinated the Grapevine Relay; Duff O’Dell who coordinated the teams, and Shonda Schaefer who served as Chair for the Women’s Division team.  Special recognition is also in order for Darcy Borutta and BJ Wilson who kept me awake the entire night!  It was a very rewarding, memorable evening in Grapevine; we came together as a community and raised over $91K for the cause.

Calling all Beer Babes……dust off those jeweled aprons and come to Main Street Days! The festival will bring excitement and lots of new faces to our community.  The Women’s Division has the privilege to man all the beer booths on Main Street on Friday, May 21st.  and will receive the proceeds from the City for the beer sales. This is an important part of our fundraising for the year.  You have received e-mail from Lavon Bolech to sign-up for shifts for the festival, so please follow-up with her right away!   Feel free to invite friends and family to work with you in the booth and include them in your request to Lavon.

The Women’s Division Luncheon on Tuesday, May 18th, will feature Grapevine Heritage Board Member Sue Franks presenting the history of the “Palace Arts Theater.”   Sue is the Chair of the Palace Arts committee and is passionate about the influence of the arts in Grapevine.  Please join us for a very informative and cultural enriching program.

RSVP required:   msjkane@sbcglobal.net.

I look forward to seeing you at the May 18th meeting!!

 MPj04463990000[1]... Christmas Spirit 2010

 Christmas in July

We will be putting together gift packages for the GRACE senior and disabled clients for delivery in July again this year.  Look for more information and requests for volunteers to help us plan and put together something nice for them in June.  This is something that the clients really look forward to and a special way to let them know that they are thought about and that people care.

School Supplies and Back Packs

We are obtaining bids from two companies for purchasing the school supplies the next school year for the children of GRACE clients.  We will be distributing the school supplies in August and will be looking for volunteers to help with that.  We are expecting almost 700 children to need assistance this year.  That means we will need your help in obtaining 700 back packs as well.  We will begin collecting back packs and funds to help us with that in June and July.

Reward Programs

If you have a Tom Thumb Rewards card, please stop by their service desk next time you go shopping and ask them to associate your card with “Good Neighbor # 4697”for the Women’s Division so that we can take full advantage of the funds that we can earn from that program.  We will also be checking with the other stores to see if they offer a similar program.
