Ladies, The
past month has been a busy one for the ladies of the Women’s Division. We started off with our “Chili Cook Off” evening social. A big “Thanks” goes Jenna
Wazac and Kim Schuld for putting this social together and to Riverside
Travel for having the social at their business. The
next day we interviewed the seniors for Christmas Spirit and what a
wonderful experience that was for everyone.
Thanks to all of you for coming out on a rainy day. The

It’s November already, and that’s Christmas Spirit season for sure!
A huge and heartfelt thank you to all of the Christmas Spirit
volunteers who gathered on a very rainy October 21 to interview GRACE
clients in their homes and spend some time chatting with them about their
holiday wishes. Those wishes
are being transferred to a set of beautiful snowflake ornaments designed
by our very own Duff O’Dell.
The Christmas Wish Tree will be officially unveiled at the
As part of this Christmas Spirit project, the Women’s Division
will also provide GRACE’s low income senior and disabled clients three
other very welcome gifts: a
book of “Forever Stamps” from the Post Office, a gift card from
Wal-Mart, plus a selection of cleaning supplies and other useful household
items. These items are being
purchased in bulk from Dollar General, using funds raised by Women’s
Division events over the last year. They
will be delivered in beautiful folding wheeled totes this year.
There are many ways to become involved in this worthy project.
Adopt a GRACE client by claiming an ornament and have fun shopping to make
their wishes come true. Join
us for a day or two in the final organizational tasks the week of December
8, and plan on participating in the best part of all, the delivery of the
gifts to the homes of the recipients on the morning of Saturday, December
13. Drivers are needed! This is a great opportunity to
involve your whole family.
Our next committee meeting is Monday, November 30, at 5:30 p.m. in
the Boardroom of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. Please join us! Season’s
Greetings!

Grapevine Women’s
Division is proud to announce the winner of our Chili Cookoff: Casey
Hege
Our October social held on October 20, 2009 went off
without a hitch. We had a
beautiful fall evening for the event.
Riverside Travel was so gracious to allow us to use their property
for our gathering. It was a
perfect setting in their garden. Thanks
a million to Riverside Travel! We
had about 60 people in attendance and all appeared to be enjoying the
fellowship, chili tasting, and spirits!
It was a wonderful time had by all. I want to especially thank the wonderful ladies who
helped set up the area for the event and
those who stayed to pack up. It
took all hands on deck to make this social another wonderful success. And let me not fail to mention our
wonderful cooks who entered their recipes (Phyllis Smith, Teri Kinsey,
Casey Hege, Jane Chevier, Kim Schuld, Vicki Gallanza, Edith Pewitt, Kathee
Livengood, Jan Smith, and Debbie Meek).
It was a tough decision as all entries had their own unique flavors
and all were very tasty! But
in the end, Casey Hege’s recipe took top recognition! Casey’s recipe will be entered in
the Big Chamber Chili – Off as the official entry for the Grapevine
Women’s Division. I would also like to thank all those who volunteered
the use of their own personal tables, chairs, ice buckets, ice chests,
table cloths, etc. It takes a
lot of inventory to pull off such an event.
And as usual our members came through!! And now………. it’s on to the Big Chamber

Ladies, The October Social was such a fun evening spent under the stars with great friends at Riverside Travel. Special thanks to Jenna Wazac and Kim Schuld for their outstanding coordination of logistics and Casey Hege for her outstanding award winning chili recipe! The evening was equally special as we welcomed 10 guests and a number of spouses who joined us for chili tasting fun. A special welcome is extended to Mary Beth Burlet our newest Women’s Division member. Please remember to invite friends to the next Women’s Division luncheon meeting on November 17th when we will host a business expo/vendor fair and have our members showcase their business brands and sell merchandise in a networking setting at Stacy’s. See you there! Jan Smith
Our November program will be a Vendor Fair for our Members. If you would like to reserve a spot please let me know by Nov. 13th. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business or items that you sell. Please feel free to be creative; there will be a prize for the best looking table. This is a fun way to show the Grapevine Women’s Division members how creative you can be. I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things our Grapevine Women do in their everyday life.
